Humble
Beginnings
Treaty City Brewery emerged in 2014 from a love for craft beer intertwined with Limerick’s historical significance. The journey commenced unexpectedly in a small East Vancouver apartment. Fueled by a shared frustration with subpar beer after a night out, the founders decided to take matters into their own hands, transforming a spare bedroom into a rudimentary brewery.
The Birth of
Harris Pale Ale
The initial brewing endeavors were far from seamless, marked by exploding fermenters, boil-overs, and leaky mash tuns. Yet, through perseverance, their first creation, Harris Pale Ale, was born. This original recipe, remarkably similar to today’s version, marked the start of something significant, a far cry from its humble origins of 20-liter batches brewed on a kitchen hob.
Back to Limerick
and Beyond
With momentum building, the founders returned to Limerick, ready to turn their passion into a reality. Treaty City Brewery officially began its operations, a testament to how a simple idea, born in a small apartment, could evolve into a brewery producing 3000-liter batches and deeply rooted in its local heritage.
